I have been a resident in the Haysville area for over twelve years. Recentley because of sewer rate evaluation done in the first three months of 2010 my water bill increased by over sixty dollars a month. This was due to a water leak under my house in Janurary. I had no problem paying for the water leak or the amount of water lost because of the leak. What I do have a problem with is the fact that for four months I paid over three hundred dollars for water that I never used. When I brought this to the attention of the receptionist at the city building I was told that there was nothing they could do but re-evaluate my account and the new charge would take effect the following month. As far as the amount of money I had over paid I was just out of luck, even though they knew full well I had been over charged. The comment was made that I should have acted sooner and that next time I should start reading the back of my water bill. They simply told me they would not refund any money that I had over paid in any way. Would be very interested in what you might have to say about this

We just moved into a new place on August 1. Our water bill before moving (still in Haysville) was alwasy around 50 a month. I got our first water bill in the new place and it was 167 dollars!!! There are no leaks that we know of, we don't water our yard or wash cars or have a pool, so no outside water use. We have a dishwasher as opposed to not having one before, but not sure how much difference that would make, hopefully not 3 times a difference!!! Anyway, I called up to the city building, they said that it's just the way it is. I called my landlord who said there's no way it could be that much, and to call and get a reread of our meter. So I called and the 2nd time I called got a different person. I asked what dates the readings were done on. She said July 18 was the first reading and Sept. 6 the second. We didn't even move in until Aug. 1 and service was not transferred to our names until Aug. 1. Then she says... well, I'm really not sure, I'm not the billing clerk. Call back and check on Thursday after they reread your meter. So, we will see. I am still not convinced that even with paying for nearly 1/2 month of someone else's service would account for our bill tripling!!! Don't know how to get to the bottom of this.
U had a leak so in sense even though u didn't personally use the water ur household was using it. u expect the city to pay for that water itself

For everyones information, Comfort Inn is not building a new hotel at the turnpike but it is a Sleep Inn which is also part of the Choice Hotel family.
